Finding Peace and Quiet at Hollister Ranch

In addition to the 8.5-mile-long Hollister Ranch Shoreline Preserve, also preserved at Hollister Ranch are over 14,000-acres of undeveloped open space and wildlife habitat. The infinitesimal amount of human presence allows for the wildlife to roam. Watching wildlife behavior from one’s home is a very unique experience. It is almost as if we are, at times, living in a reverse zoo.

Outside of the Ranch, the state, the country and the world generally seem to be having a tumultuous time. Modern society often seems intolerably loud and unpleasant. Once though the Hollister Ranch entrance gate, one encounters a calm not easily experienced elsewhere. If one listens carefully, what is most often hears is nothing… silence.

Other than ruffling leaves or the sound of a birds wings as they fly by, one hears nothing at all. The ambient noises of the modern world ae left behind. The psychological effect of such an environment can be profound. The consequence is a sort of positive “brainwashing” and any negativity is extinguished.
